Biography:
Painting has been a part of my life for as long as I remember. I was always drawing, painting and trying new mediums. I have worked with many teachers across Canada and painted in oils, acrylics, watercolours, coloured pencil and worked in clay, glass engraving, stained glass and fibre arts.

I finally found my voice in Oriental Brush Painting about 15 years ago. Working with Chinese Ink and watercolours on mulberry paper caught my interest and held it. It challenges me but when I have success with it, I feel I've accomplished a great deal. It is also a bit different from other styles and that appeals to me as well.

I work mostly from memory and if I use a photo I will often paint the piece several times on many pieces of paper to find the essence of the subject. I love an image that shows what the subject is about but not all the details. I want the viewer to have a part of process and feel the emotions of the piece.

Teaching is a way to give others a chance to try Oriental Brush Painting and I learn as much from my student as they learn from me.
